Thai Style Crispy Pork Belly

Crispy pork belly, or moo krob in Thai, is a dish made from succulent and crispy pieces of pork belly that are typically served with a spicy dipping sauce. The dish can be found at street vendors and markets throughout Thailand and has become a favourite among locals and tourists alike.

The key to making crispy pork belly is in the preparation. The pork belly is first marinated in a mixture of fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and other seasonings. Sometimes soy sauce is also used. It is then cooked in boiling water for several hours until it is tender and the fat has rendered out. The pork is then allowed to cool and is sliced into pieces. The slices are then fried until crispy on the outside, resulting in a deliciously crunchy texture.

Crispy pork belly is often served with a side of steamed rice and a spicy dipping sauce made from chillies, garlic, fish sauce, lime juice, and sugar. The sauce adds a tangy and spicy flavour that complements the rich and savoury flavour of the pork.

Thai street food is known for its bold flavours, and crispy pork belly is no exception. It is a dish that is sure to satisfy your cravings for something savoury and crunchy. If you’re ever in Thailand, make sure to stop by a street vendor and try this delicious dish for yourself.
