After chucking the flour into a bowl, we made a well in middle and added half the water. We then added the yeast, salt and sugar into the water and mixed them together. Slowly we folded the flour into the water and then added the rest of the water. With floury hands, we mixed and kneaded it together firstly by the little lady and then more vigorously by daddy, 5 or 6 messy minutes later we chucked the dough into a bowl and went to play Uno while leaving it to rise.
………….. uno, snakes and ladders and a bit of YouTube later (approximately an hour and the dough had roughly doubled in size) it was ready to knead and twist and pull and push and rub again…. once proved for a second time (1 or 2 minutes) we put the dough into a greased bread tin and left again for about 30 minutes.
Hands washed, we put the loaf tin into a preheated oven (180 degrees) for 25/30 minutes.
Once cooked I popped it out of the tin and left it to rest on the side. Apparently to check if it’s done tap the bottom and it will sound hollow if it doesn’t just put it back in the oven for a bit.
