Ah, summer. The flowers are blooming, and the days are long. The only problem is that you have a stack of homework to do, but you can’t because it’s too hot outside! Lucky for you, we compiled this list with activities perfect for bored teenagers to keep you busy through the summer! From sports to arts and crafts, some activities will keep boredom at bay for any day of the week.
1) Summer Camp
Summer camp is a fun way to get away from your everyday routine. You spend time away with other teens, swimming and doing activities that are both fun and educational. Summer camps for teenagers can consist of everything from art classes to learning about different cultures, so it is hard not to find something you like. Some teens even credit their love for learning to summer camp because they learned how to work in groups and improve their social skills!
2) Roasting Hotdogs and S’mores
Nothing beats sitting around a campfire roasting hot dogs or s’mores. If you’ve ever gone on a camping trip, then you probably know what we are talking about. If you haven’t been camping, don’t worry! All you need is a garden campfire to have an amazing time roasting up some yummy foods. Whether it is a make-shift fire pit or another outdoor grill, the point of this summer activity is to have fun and appreciate simple things like food and nature. You can make your own s’mores by baking cookies in the oven and spreading marshmallows on top of it.
3) Sports
Sports are great because they take your mind away from the stresses of everyday life. There are great sports that focus on many different things, such as sports that encourage exercise and sports that promote learning. These activities are often the perfect ways to show off your skills in front of others! Sports like football, soccer and baseball can be quite competitive, so make sure you choose a sport that you enjoy playing!
4) Fishing
Fishing is a classic. Who doesn’t want to feel like a nature expert and catch their own fish? Many teens like to hone their fishing skills by going on lake trips, but even the best fishing holes in the world can’t compare to the fun that can be caught in your own backyard. Sometimes finding your favourite spot on the lake is all it takes to get you hooked on fishing. This year try experimenting with your bait, rod and reel before you head off to buy your first one!
5) Cooking
What teenager doesn’t love baking or cooking? It is a great way to be creative and keep your mind sharp by using logic when you are preparing meals. Taking an interest in cooking is a great way to preserve memories in your mind for years. Use this summer to try out all the different types of food that you have never cooked before! Knives, pots and pans are some of the simplest things you can use for cooking, and it will give you a whole new appreciation for them!
