Pork and Pears

Pork and pear served with south potato

A really simple, quick and delicious meal. Now the longer evenings are back again, we tend to be outside more and tonight was no exception. After a sneaky trip to the park after school, we arrived home a lot later than normal. Thankfully this meal literally takes about fifteen minutes from start to finish.

I served it with souped potatoes. However it would work just as well with mash or roast potatoes. Or for a healthier little twist perhaps sweet potato mash.

Pork and pear served with south potato

Yields4 Servings
Prep Time5 minsCook Time10 minsTotal Time15 mins

 4 Pork Fillets £1.56
 2 Red onions, cut into 1/8's 21p
2 Large pears, cored and cut into 1/4's 30p
50 Danish Blue Cheese, crumbled 50p (optional)
2 Sprigs rosemary leaves, roughly chopped (from my garden, but roughly 20p-30p in shop)

1

I chucked about a tablespoon of oil into a roasting tray and put it on the hob over 2 flames. I chucked the onions, pairs and most of the rosemary in and cooked it for about 5 minutes, until the onions started to caramelise.

2

With the grill on a high heat I then cooked the pork fillets for about 5 minutes, turning half way.

3

I finally put the pork in with the onions and pears, I sprinkled the cheese over and added the rest of the rosemary and grilled for a couple more minutes, until the cheese started to melt. I then served with the potatoes.
