Taking only ten minutes from start to finish the easy meatball recipe is a family favorite. Made from just a few store cupboard ingredients, it comes together in just a few minutes. The kids love this meal and often request it, which suits me fine. Especially on the nights, we are rushing around together to fit in all the out-of-school activities that fill our diaries. Why not give this easy pasta and meatballs recipe a try for yourself? You could even add some garlic bread as a side. Don’t forget to grate some parmesan cheese over the plate to serve.

Right place, right time

I was lucky and found some shop-bought meatballs in the yellow sticker section. So decided to use them for this easy pasta and meatball recipe. However should you want to make your own juicy meatballs from ground beef, it is fairly straightforward. Mix some beef mince, fresh bread crumbs and seasoning together with a large egg and using your hands pat them into small ball shapes. It should only take a few minutes longer and homemade meatballs are amazing.

As an easy dinner option, I went with simple. And sometimes the best things for great recipes is simple! I wanted to keep the taste buds going so decided to ensure we had a rich tomato sauce with Italian seasoning as the base for this classic Italian meatballs dinner. Just a few minutes of prep time will end with a large bowl

With just a few ingredients with some black pepper, olive oil and spaghetti you will have a hearty meatball dinner that will be a big hit with the whole family.

Good Meatballs

If you have more time you can add some red wine, beef stock, fresh basil, plenty of Italian seasonings and some Worcestershire sauce to make a really flavorful tomato sauce and make yourself a real plate of comfort food.

Pro Tip – If you want to make your own traditional meatballs always use fresh garlic and plenty of spices and cook over medium heat to ensure moist meatballs. I was chatting with a friend the other day and they mentioned that when they often make turkey meatballs and spicy pork meatballs which sounds like a great option to me!

  • Pasta of choice
  • 1 Tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Clove of garlic
  • Shop bought meatballs
  • Italian Seasoning

However should you want to make your own, it is fairly straightforward. Mix some beef mince, breadcrumbs a seasoning together with an egg and using your hands pat them into small ball shapes. It should only take a few minutes longer.

  • First things first. You need to heat a little oil in a frying pan and then chuck the meatballs in and brown them off for a few minutes, before removing and setting them aside for later.

  • Next up, put the onion and garlic into the same pan and soften them over low heat for about five minutes. Meanwhile, cook the pasta as per the packet instructions.

  • Once softened add the tomatoes and Italian seasoning and heat through before adding the meatballs.

  • Once cooked add the pasta to the saucepan with the tomato sauce in, together with a good tablespoon or so of the pasta water. Give it a good mix together and serve.

  • If you don’t fancy meatballs, maybe mix it up with some extra vegetables instead. We often use peppers, onions and courgettes with this recipe as a substitute for meat.
